Youth Alliance held its inaugural Feria de Salud (Health Fair) at Hollister High School on March 16 in the cafeteria. About 15 organizations participated in the event, which focused on bringing mental health awareness to Spanish-speaking adults.

The participating organizations were required to provide an activity related to mental health and self-care. Featured were lessons in breathing techniques and creating projects with Mason Jars.

The fair was Linda Sanchez’s capstone project for her undergraduate degree in collaborative health and human services at CSU Monterey Bay. She is also an intern at Youth Alliance.

All participants were entered into a raffle. Sanchez said the fair was unique in that the exhibiting organizations, in addition to being able to network, were also entered into a raffle to show appreciation for their support of the community.

The 65 attendees learned about services and organizations in the community. They also received oranges, granola bars and water.

Participating organizations included:

  • First 5
  • Ventures
  • YMCA
  • Insurance Solutions Inc
  • Salvation Army
  • Central California Alliance for Health
  • San Benito County Opioid Task Force
  • SBC Public Health
  • The Esperanza Center
  • Youth Recovery Connections
  • Catholic Charities
  • Community Food Bank of San Benito
  • Youth Alliance
  • TRIO
  • Global Financial Inc.
