Twice each year, BenitoLink engages in fundraising periods: one in late spring and the other in the fall. We are fortunate to have community members who care about free speech and accurate news give us funds that double and sometimes even triple your donation. This fundraiser is about the civic engagement activities we bring you.
Since its formation, BenitoLink’s mission has included increasing awareness in our community through forums, town halls, listening sessions and more. As a news outlet, we invite different viewpoints and unique perspectives. We are interested in your goals and concerns.
That’s why our new location right downtown in Hollister is so exciting to us.
This year we relocated our own office space at 615 San Benito Street in downtown Hollister, enabling us to be more accessible to the public.
We have not only a larger newsroom but more importantly, a place for community members to come together both in person and online.
We aspire to offer San Benito County residents more than local news. Beyond our dedication to our reporting on local government, health care, transportation and more, our goal is to provide opportunities for increased community involvement for people of all ages. We want to establish a place where you can speak up, ask questions and share valuable ideas and concerns.
BenitoLink, now in its 13th year, has had a positive impact on community conversations by welcoming and serving all members of our county. But giving basic news service and developing an open and attentive place for ideas takes a lot of work.
We need our continued and dedicated support.
The BenitoLink team is preparing for a very busy election season. We need your support to put in hours of research on the top issues facing the county.
And so today, through June 22, we begin expanding our civic focus.
We have a great opportunity thanks to three generous local supporters who have offered to match your donations up to $10,000. Our goal for this spring’s fundraiser is to maximize the support a newsroom like ours needs to keep serving you. Together, we can stay on top of local issues and continue growing into an engaged community of readers.
Help us double or triple these matching donations so we can put our new location to use as a studio for one-on-one interviews with local and state elected officials and place for holding community conversations. Together we can reach our goal of $30,000 for this spring campaign.
Encouraging public dialogue and fostering an engaged community is part of our mission, and we don’t take that lightly. It requires additional time to conduct research and additional reporters to connect with the community members most affected.
We rely on you to continue and expand our local coverage. Donate now and support your local newsroom.
