Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren announced that for fiscal year 2024 over $50 million from Community Project Funding is going to various projects within District 18, which includes parts of Monterey Santa Clara, Santa Cruz counties, and all of San Benito County.

No projects in San Benito County received funding.

“There’s a simple reason why: No entity provided an application for a project in San Benito County,” Lofgren told BenitoLink. “As a result, there were no local projects that I could secure an investment for through that specific federal government funding avenue. I encourage entities in San Benito County and throughout CA-18 to submit a Community Project Funding Request Form for Fiscal Year 2025 (which is on my website) if there is a local project that meets the Appropriations Committee’s guidelines and would make a difference in our communities.”

In a news release, Lofgren said the funded projects will help farmworkers, homeless veterans, underserved communities and working families.

“I am looking forward to local visits to discuss each one,” Lofgren said in the release.

The list of the projects receiving funding:

  • Network Enterprise Center (Fort Hunter Liggett) – $40,000,000
  • Farmworker Housing Rehabilitation and Electrification Pilot Program (Santa Clara County) – $1,666,279
