A five-acre fire was reported at the 800 block of Hernandez Road around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15.
At 6:20 p.m. that day, Cal Fire BEU’s Facebook update said the fast-moving fire was 400 acres and 20% contained. The cause of the ignition is under investigation.
At 5:50 p.m. on June 16 the Cal Fire reported the fire encompassed 642 acres and was 35% contained.
On its Facebook page Cal Fire BEU said the steep terrain, warm windy weather and remote location are causing a challenge for firefighters on the ground.
According to the Cal Fire website, as of June 17, 251 personnel and eight crews are assigned to the fire along with two helicopters, 25 engines, seven dozers and four water tenders.
As of 5:30 p.m. June 17 Cal Fire is reporting 45% containment with personnel and equipment numbers unchanged.
Cal Fire reported at 6:11 a.m. on June 18 that the fire is 65% contained. Personnel and equipment numbers have not changed.
As of 6:01 a.m. Cal Fire has the fire 90% contained. 100 personnel, 10 engines, seven dozers, two water tenders and three crews remain on scene.
