BenitoLink’s NewsMatch campaign is moving right along

When it comes to fundraising, fall is our most crucial time of the year. It sets the stage for our 2025 reporting. We  ask our readers to take advantage of matching opportunities to double, and sometimes triple, their donations. We are fortunate to again benefit from NewsMatch powered by Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) which this year is offering $20,000 in matching funds. Looking ahead to 2025 and our 14th year as your local news provider, we appreciate our major donors and organizations such as INN who make your donations go so much further.

We are pleased to be among nearly 400 nonprofit newsrooms across the U.S. participating in the INN Newsmatch campaign. This year, as we started working on our fall campaign, we asked ourselves, “What would our community be like without local news?”

Throughout the campaign, we plan to explore this question with our readers. BenitoLink was created by residents like you at a time when reporting on public meetings had stopped and basic information about local goings-on was hard to come by. But as BenitoLink now heads into its 14th year, we can still remember what life was like in San Benito County without a dependable news source.

It took us years to get where we are today. Endless hours have been put into creating BenitoLink—enhancing it to meet our readers’ needs for local information and making it financially stable.

Take part in your local news and help keep it going strong.

Until Dec. 31, you can increase the impact of your BenitoLink donations and thus give a power boost to our newsroom in 2025.

Generous community supporters Sallie Calhoun and Matt Christiano, along with Randy and Rebecca Wolf, have pledged $20,000, for a total of $40,000! They are encouraging community members to join together for a successful campaign. Their local match will be combined with INN’s $20,000 for a total of $60,000.

These major donors, plus NewsMatch, will ensure your donation packs a punch. Through NewsMatch, your new monthly donations will be doubled, up to $1,000 per donor. This means we have the potential of earning $120,000 for the coming year!

San Benito County needs BenitoLink—and we need you. Help us reach our goal and show our generous supporters that you, too, care about being informed and engaged in shaping our county’s future.

Thank you to all our donors!
